6 Tips to Prepare for Cold Weather
JAN 16, 2024 — This week Greenville County will be experiencing temperatures below 20° F which can cause water lines to freeze and burst, leaving homes and businesses without water.
To avoid burst pipes in the event of freezing temperatures below 32°, be sure to:
- Make sure any pipes that are in a crawl space, attic or basement are insulated.
- Seal any cracks or opening around windows or doors.
- Drain outdoor hoses of water and cover any outside spigots.
- Keep the heat on, even if you will be away from home.
- Allow your faucets to drip (not run), especially if you are away from your home for an extended period of time.
- Open your cabinets for plumbing inside of exterior walls.
