Burst Frozen Pipe

  Jan 16, 2024

6 Tips to Prepare for Cold Weather

JAN 16, 2024 — This week Greenville County will be experiencing temperatures below 20° F which can cause water lines to freeze and burst, leaving homes and businesses without water.

To avoid burst pipes in the event of freezing temperatures below 32°, be sure to:

  1. Make sure any pipes that are in a crawl space, attic or basement are insulated.
  2. Seal any cracks or opening around windows or doors.
  3. Drain outdoor hoses of water and cover any outside spigots.
  4. Keep the heat on, even if you will be away from home.
  5. Allow your faucets to drip (not run), especially if you are away from your home for an extended period of time.
  6. Open your cabinets for plumbing inside of exterior walls.
