The main function of the Cross Connection Control Program is to eliminate the possibility of contamination within our system. Cross connection occurs whenever a public water supply has an actual or potential connection with any other source or system that could result in unintended potable water being introduced. In order to protect the potable public water supply, appropriate backflow prevention devices need to be in place for facilities like car washes, funeral homes, doctors’ offices, restaurants, schools, and dry cleaners. Review of fireline plans and inspection of fireline installations are an integral part of this program. The program staff is responsible for overseeing the backflow prevention device inspection program, reviewing fire line plans, and inspecting fire line installations.
