At Greenville Water, we are committed to keeping our community safe by ensuring adequate resources are available when needed. To support those efforts, our Water Resources team performs routine fire flow tests on hydrants in our service area. These tests are conducted on fire hydrants to ensure there is ample water and pressure available for firefighting activities. Fire flow testing also provides Greenville Water the means to perform water quality tests.
In all, Greenville Water has approximately 12,000 hydrants that are fed through our distribution system.
Fire flow testing also provides information on the condition and operability of the hydrants, static and residual pressure, and flow rate data.
Greenville Water takes site conditions and customer property into consideration when performing fire flow testing, ensuring water is not damaging or flooding the property. It is important to note that water is safe to use and consume during fire flow testing and will not interrupt your water service.
