Greenville Water is closely and actively monitoring the water quality at the Table Rock Reservoir in response to the ongoing wildfires in the area. We want to reassure our community that we anticipate little to no impact on water quality. Based on our previous experience with the 2016 Pinnacle Mountain Fire, which did not affect water quality, we are confident that the Table Rock fire will have a similar outcome.
We assure you that your drinking water remains completely safe. Greenville Water sources its supply from our three separate reservoirs—Table Rock, North Saluda, and Lake Keowee. Water from the North Saluda and Table Rock reservoirs undergoes treatment at the Stovall Water Treatment Plant, which utilizes Dissolved Air Flotation to effectively remove any particulate matter that may be present in the water from these reservoirs. Additionally, you can be confident that the aerial operations controlling the fire within the watershed are using only water.
Currently, there is no need to adjust the water flow from the Table Rock watershed. Both North Saluda and Lake Keowee reservoirs have ample capacity to independently supply clean and reliable drinking water if the Table Rock reservoir is temporarily impacted. However, please rest assured that we are fully prepared to make prompt adjustments if conditions change, ensuring there will be no disruption to your water service.
Greenville Water remains dedicated to providing safe, high-quality drinking water, and we will continue to closely monitor the situation, keeping your well-being as our highest priority.
