Greenville Water crews are working around the clock to mitigate the fires spread; however, at this time, the Table Rock Fire Complex remains 0% contained.

UPDATE: March 24, 5:15 p.m. - Despite some rainfall this morning, the wildfire at Table Rock continues to burn and is estimated at over 1,500 acres. In addition, the Persimmon Ridge fire, which ignited on Saturday evening, has grown to more than 800 acres. These fires are now collectively referred to as the Table Rock Complex Fires and remain 0% contained.

Fire crews, including Greenville Water’s team, are actively working to establish fire lines and conduct back burns, which are prescribed burns conducted to reduce the fuel on the ground for the wildfire.

Aircrafts from the South Carolina National Guard, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and South Carolina Forestry Commission are conducting water drops. Because of this, a flight restriction is in place within a 7-mile radius of the fire to ensure safe operations for these aircrafts.

The burn ban, enacted Friday at 6 p.m., remains in effect.

Please avoid roads near the affected areas to allow our crews to work safely and efficiently.

--

UPDATE: March 23, 12:53 p.m. - Due to increased wildfire activity in the Table Rock area, you will see more air traffic (planes and helicopters) overhead. These aircraft are actively fighting these fires, drawing water from sources like North Saluda, Lake Jocassee, Table Rock Reservoir, and others. Table Rock Reservoir's size and shape limit it to helicopter usage only, while larger aircraft require the more spacious areas of North Saluda and Lake Jocassee. Spreading water scoops across multiple bodies of water ensures safe operations for all aircraft involved.

Dedicated teams from the National Guard, The Nature Conservancy, Greenville Water, the U.S. Fire Service, and the South Carolina Forestry Commission are working hard to extinguish these fires quickly and safely.

For your safety and that of all the fire and emergency personnel, please stay out of the area.

UPDATE: March 22, 5:30 p.m. - The Table Rock Fire remains 0% contained and has now reached Greenville Water watershed property.

We’re working closely with the South Carolina Forestry Commission, with bulldozers heading in to strengthen and create new firebreaks in hopes of slowing the fire’s spread.

Please avoid the area so emergency crews can access the site quickly and safely. Your cooperation is critical.

--

March 22, 11:09 a.m. A fire is currently burning near the top of Table Rock Mountain on the park side, adjacent to Greenville Water’s property. This morning, the South Carolina Forestry Commission (SCFC) will begin water drops using two aircraft to help contain the fire. Greenville Water has trained team members and the necessary equipment on-site to assist. Our crews are working closely with SCFC and other area fire professionals, using UTVs to help gain access to the fire zone. We’re hopeful the fire can be brought under control before winds increase and humidity drops later today. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
