Jeff Boss Named Greenville Water’s Interim Chief Executive Officer

GREENVILLE, SC – March 27, 2023 – The Commission of Public Works for the City of Greenville (Greenville Water) is pleased to announce that it has appointed Jeffrey W. Boss, P.E. to serve as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Greenville Water effective immediately. Jeff has been serving as Chief Operations Officer (COO) of Greenville Water since 2018. Jeff’s appointment follows the retirement of Greenville Water CEO David Bereskin.

Jeff is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is a registered professional engineer in South Carolina and several other states. Jeff has extensive experience as a water utility executive, having previously served as Deputy General Manager of Beaufort Jasper Water & Sewer Authority from 2016-2018 and as Gwinnett Deputy Director of Operations & Facilities from 2006-2016.

During Jeff’s tenure as COO of Greenville Water, he has introduced innovative utility technology to Greenville Water’s engineering, water production and distribution systems. Specifically, Jeff has focused his efforts on the development of a world class enterprise asset management program; the optimization of the chemical usage in the water treatment operation; and on system infrastructure modernization.

According to Greenville Water Chair, Phillip Kilgore, “Jeff has had significant industry experience during his career and has provided exemplary service to Greenville Water and the greater Greenville community.” Kilgore added that: “the Commission has every confidence that Jeff will provide strong leadership and direction for Greenville Water and its customers as the Commission continues its search for a permanent Chief Executive.”
