City of Pickens Celebrates Connection to Greenville Water's Supply

Greenville Water and the City of Pickens held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, July 21, to celebrate the City of Pickens’ official connection to Greenville Water’s supply.

Although Pickens began receiving water from Greenville Water in September 2024, the ceremony marked the formal recognition of a long-term partnership that enhances water quality, reliability, and sustainability for Pickens residents and businesses.

“This partnership strengthens the Upstate by leveraging existing resources to deliver affordable, high-quality water,” said Jeff Boss, CEO of Greenville Water. “We’re proud to support the City of Pickens with a sustainable solution that benefits the entire Upstate region.”

The interconnection project reflects months of collaboration and planning, minimizing environmental and financial impact while creating a scalable solution for future growth. Greenville Water’s extensive distribution system and protected mountain sources provide a strong foundation for regional resilience.

“It is a joy to partner with Greenville Water,” said Pickens Mayor Isaiah Scipio. “Since the onset of our collaborative efforts, our water quality has improved tremendously. It’s reassuring to work with a proven, reliable utility that helps us plan for a productive and successful future. This partnership not only strengthens Pickens but also exemplifies regional collaboration across county lines. The relationship between the City of Pickens and Greenville Water is strong—and full of potential.”
