Hillandale Tank Construction Project

Greenville Water partnered with Langston Construction to build a new groundwater storage tank located on Paris Mountain. The time-lapse video below shows the Hillandale Tank construction, which holds 1.25 million gallons of water, equivalent to two Olympic sized swimming pools at 660,000 gallons each. The tank took two years to complete; approximately one year to design and one year to construct. It is 40′ tall with about 15′ of the tank buried to meet zoning requirements.

The current Hillandale zone serves approximately 5,700 customers, and the expanded Hillandale zone will help provide service to an additional 600 customers. The tank offers additional storage to meet customer water service demands and to support fire fighting demands. Some fires require 1000s of gallons of water per minute, competing with everyday water use. The water can flow from both the tank and the pump station at the same time to provide more flow when needed.

The tank was constructed in conjunction with the new Crestwood Drive 5.5 million gallons per day pump station expected to be in operation by the end of 2020.
