Greenville Water’s Safe and Reliable Drinking Water

Beware of a misleading water quality notice that is targeting Greenville residents in order to sell water filtration systems. There is no cause for alarm or additional testing of your drinking water as we meet all of the strict drinking water standards established by the Environmental Protection Agency and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) as detailed in our 2018 Water Quality Report.

Each year, the team at Greenville Water works diligently to protect our watersheds, ensure our treatment practices are highly effective, and provide our customers, with safe drinking water. Our water comes from protected watersheds with no development or agricultural activities. Therefore, our community does not have to worry about pharmaceuticals or other unregulated containments in their water.

In order to further protect our customers, Greenville Water and SCDHEC collected over 34,000 samples and performed more than 70,000 tests during 2018. We ensure your water quality by testing water samples collected during the treatment process and as the water is delivered to customers.

Greenville Water has no affiliation with any outside organization or home mailings offering drinking water testing and analysis, and there is no health or aesthetic reasons for home filtration systems. In fact, in 2011 we earned the best tasting water in America at the national awards annual convention.

While there is no need for our customers to have their water tested, they are welcome to contact Greenville Water’s Laboratory at 864-241-7838 or by email at laboratory@greenvillewater.com for more information about our water treatment techniques or water quality.

Additionally, we encourage customers to read our 2018 Water Quality Report that details how their water is treated, where it comes from, how it is protected and the standards by which it is regulated.
