Greenville Water Receives Award of Recognition for 10 Years of Outstanding Performance

Utility is One of an Elite Group to Receive Honor

Greenville, SC – November 4, 2019 – Greenville Water received the 10 Year Directors Award for Water Treatment from the Partnership for Safe Water, a program developed by Environmental Protection Agency, the American Water Works Association (AWWA), and associated partner organizations to guide water suppliers towards improving water quality by optimizing system operations. The Stovall and Adkins Water Treatment Plants were presented this award for successfully maintaining the program’s Directors Award level of performance for a 10-year period.

The Directors Award was achieved by completing the Self-Assessment and Peer Review phase of the Partnership program, a phase which includes comprehensive evaluation of the treatment plant operations and performance, identification of performance limiting factors, and the development of action plans to achieve optimization. Greenville Water’s treatment plants were part of a select group of utilities honored by the Partnership at the annual conference of the AWWA.

“We are honored to receive these awards,” said David Bereskin, Greenville Water Chief Executive Officer. “Our utility’s goal is to continually strive to optimize operations and improve the quality of water we deliver to our customers. Achievement of the 10 Year Directors Award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to protecting public health.”

The Stovall Water Treatment Plant also received the Five Year Presidents Award for Water Treatment recognizing treatment plants that achieve the Partnership’s rigorous individual filter effluent turbidity standards and are working to full optimization.

The Partnership for Safe Water is a voluntary self-assessment and optimization program for water treatment plant and distribution system operations. More than 300 utility subscribers, collectively serving more than 100 million people, are committed to the Partnership’s goals of providing safe, high quality drinking water through achieving operational excellence in water treatment. Partnership members participate in a rigorous four-phase self-assessment and peer review process, developed by water utility optimization experts, and are recognized for their commitment to delivering safe water to their communities.
