For all meters larger than 2” Greenville Water will require the anticipated use and flow requirements for the new service. The capacity fee for these larger meters will be calculated based on the actual capacity needs of the customer/business or the minimum published value on the table above. Greenville Water reserves the right to audit water usage and assess or change Capacity Fees. Capacity Fees will not be refunded once a meter has been placed into service.
For connection and meter sizes not shown please contact Development Services at (864) 241-6100.

Capacity Fees
Capacity fees are applied to all new metered service connections, and for existing services that are increasing metered supply. They are meant to keep existing customers from bearing the burden of the capital projects needed to supply water availability for our growing community.
For residential units, including condominiums, apartments and single-family homes, the capacity fee for a 5/8” meter is assessed by unit size rather than by meter size, as follows:
| GW Unit Type | Capacity Fee | Unit Description |
| A | $1,390 | 1-bedroom unit < 1,000 square feet |
| B | $2,085 | 1-bedroom unit > 1,000 square feet but < 1,200 square feet |
| C | $2,085 | 2-bedroom unit with < 1,200 square feet |
| D | $2,780 | 2-bedroom unit with > 1,200 square feet |
| E | $2,780 | not listed in Category A, B, C or D |
Capacity fees do not apply to dedicated single-family residential
irrigation meters that are connected to the existing residential service
line.
Contribution Fees
Officially referred to as a Contribution in Aid of Construction (CIA) Fee, the purpose is to help pay for the expense of extending water mains in the Greenville Water service area. Effective September 1, 2015, Contribution Fees will be determined by the size of the tap and apply to every district. Contribution fees also apply to private fire protection systems. Contribution fees are collected uniformly throughout the distribution system.
Tapping Fees
Note: For taps of 4-inches or larger, the tap fee will be based on the estimated actual cost as determined by Greenville Water.
Meter Fees
Meter fees cover the purchase and installation costs of new meters. For all accounts within the City of Greenville, meter fees are waived, except for irrigation meters. Irrigation meters are subject to meter fees.
For existing meters that need to be relocated, Greenville Water charges $300. Call (864) 241-6100 for specific details regarding meter relocation.
Note: Greenville Water reserves the right to determine the size and type of all meters installed.
Service Inspection Fees
Service inspection fees are applicable where Greenville Water is notified by the plumber that the job is ready for tapping and/or meter installation but does not meet Greenville Water’s specifications, thereby requiring extra trips. Each such additional trip is subject to the following Inspection Fee, payable in advance:
Inspection Fee – $275
