What is Greenville Water’s hiring process?

Once a position closes, all applications are reviewed. The Human Resources Department will then contact the qualified applicants for a preliminary telephone screen, and for certain positions, schedule WorkKeys testing to measure the applicant’s work skills.

Applicants who meet the WorkKeys criteria will be scheduled for an interview, and depending on the position, there may be several interviews. Background and reference checks will be conducted on selected candidates and an applicant must undergo a pre-employment physical and drug testing before he/she is hired.

What is the WorkKeys Assessment?

WorkKeys is a tool used to assess an applicants’ skills in the areas of Reading, Math, Locating Information, Applied Technology, Writing, Listening, Teamwork and/or Observation. The test(s) are administered at the SC Works Greenville center at 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Suite C-11.

What if I do not have a computer?

Computers are available at your local library.

How long is my application active?

When you submit an application for an open position, we’ll keep your application for 30 days and may consider you if that position becomes vacant again during that time period. When you complete an application using our online system, your information is stored so you can return an edit your application as often as you like and apply for positions as they come open.

If I apply for one position will I be considered for any other open positions that I’m qualified for?

No. If you would like to be considered for more than one position, you must apply for each position using our online employment application system.
